Emergency Ready Profile Makes a Difference When the Unplanned Happens

There is no easy way to describe trauma whether it is accidental, or intentional. A call came in one morning and the caller was to say the least very distraught, bewildered, and her raw emotion was heartbreaking. She manages one of the larger apartment communities in Camden, South Carolina, and overnight there was an incident at one of the units that began on the second floor and came to an end on the first floor. While it is a call no one wants to make, or take, it is an unfortunate reality.
My first response was to assure her that it’s going to be OK, that we can handle everything once the unit was released into her custody. While I had her on the phone, I pulled up their Emergency Ready Plan which allowed me to have a visual on which building required the trauma cleanup. I assured her that our trained technicians would be in route to her shortly. Suddenly, she let out a sigh and said, 'thank you so much, I feel better already just talking with you'.
Our technicians were dispatched once I had provided the information regarding the required access entrance, and where to park which I had obtained when I did their Emergence Ready Profile. The compassion, the response time, the Emergency Ready Plan, were all key in making it "Like it never even happened."
